Why We’re Excited About Australian Made Week

24.05.2021
Australian Made Week

June 6th – 12th is the second  Australian Made Week, and as we are a proud Australian company, everyone at Carbitool couldn’t be more excited!

Have a look at why Australian Made Week has us like kids before Christmas, a little about Carbitool, and some of the best-selling locally made products we’ve got to offer.

What’s Australian Made Week All About?

The Australian Bureau of Statistics and Roy Morgan Research agree that if every household across the country spent an extra $10 a week on Australian Made products, we’d collectively generate $5 BILLION for our economy, and create 11,000 new jobs in the process.

As we continue to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s never been more important to support our own, especially our small and medium-sized businesses. Carbitool are proud to be part of the first ever Australian Made Week, and we’re delighted to be able to display the famous Green and Gold Jumping Kangaroo.

Carbitool – As Aussie as Vegemite Toast

Carbitool has been a part of the Australian hardware landscape for over 45 years, since our founder Neil Hamilton established the company in Victoria in 1974. Over the years, Carbitool acquired four other manufacturing businesses in Melbourne and Sydney before being acquired by Sutton Tools, another well recognised Australian company.

Carbitool is now a proud part of Sutton Tools and their century-long history of providing Australian-made quality to industry, trades, DIY-ers, and retailers both locally and across the globe.

Carbitool Compression Cutters

Made in Moorabbin, in Melbourne’s South Eastern suburbs, our range of Compression Cutters are ideal for use on double sided laminates such as melamine, vinyl, painted board, and natural timbers. They’re designed to provide a clean finish and eliminate furry edges or splintering in your workpiece, and are especially useful when cutting lighter timbers such as Cedar. The vast majority are used in industrial settings on CNC machines for shopfitting manufacturer for residential and commercial construction markets.

Here’s a guide on how to master using your compression cutters.

2 Flute – Compression Bit

One of our best-selling compression bits – this one is perfect for double-sided laminates and natural timbers. Like all our compression bits, it is available with advanced coating.

Carbitool Solid Carbide Router Bits

Along with Carbitool’s compression bit range, our wider range of Solid Carbide Router Bits are also manufactured in Moorabbin on our Australian made ANCA CNC machines. We produce router bits designed for almost any material, including (but not limited to) plastics such as Bakelite, Acetate, PVC, Nylon, as well as hardwoods, softwoods, and laminates.

If you’re brand-new to router bits, here’s a guide that will help you get to know them better. If you’re familiar and already own a few, this will help you get the most out of them.

A Few Other (Australian-Made) Greatest Hits

Having been a part of Australian woodworking for almost half a century, we’ve built a reputation for providing a range of world-class tools made right here in Australia. Here are a few of our customers’ favourites.

 3 Flute – Surface Planer

Australian made surface planer

This surface planer is used in CNC machines, bench mounted or overhead routers, router planing jigs and slab mills with planer attachments such as the Australian made Lucas Mill and Wood Wizz. This guide has a little more about our range of surface planers.

2 Flute – Finishing Spiral Bit – Down Cut – Solid Carbide – TiN Coated

This bit can offer you a superior finish on materials such as hardwoods, softwoods, laminates and composites. When through cutting, the down cut drives the swarf (sawdust, for the layperson) down and out of the cut, preventing jamming.

When overhead routing or routing with a CNC machine, the down cutting action will help keep thin light materials firmly against the machine bed.

Single Flute – 22.5° Vee Groove Bit – Solid Carbide

Australian made vee groove bit

This groove bit has a 22.5° angle, making it perfect for grooving, engraving, and edge forming. This bit is ideal for adding a personal touch to your project.
